Welcome to the Brookstone School Technology U Wiki
The purpose of Brookstone U is to provide professional development on a variety of technology related topics during school hours to our faculty and staff.
This wiki will be used to post course information and handouts about in-house courses offerings.
Who Attends All faculty are required to attend 1 course per semester beginning with the 2012-2013 school year
The school will pay for a sub for attendees
Courses will be 3 hours long
Principal approval is required if a teacher wants to take more than one class per semester
Staff are encouraged to attend a class per semester as well, but need to arrange coverage with co-workers
Who Teaches Faculty members and staff can apply to teach/demonstrate how they have used technology successfully in their classroom
Brookstone will pay $350 to develop a course and present it a minimum of 2 times. Note: taxes will be taken out of the $350
A syllabus must be posted on the Technology U wiki a minimum of 1 month prior to the class
Class handouts must be posted on the Technology U shared folder 1 week prior to class
NOTE: This can be revised and a new copy loaded, but the class must be 95% ready by this point
The Technology Director, Principal, Department Chair, or Academic Dean will attend the first class to observe

Possible Topics – Beginner, intermediate and advanced level courses will be offered at different times. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: OneNote, All Things Google, Moodle, DyKnow, SMART Board, Excel, Word, Power Point, Prezi, Wikis, Blogs, Windows, Publisher, Smart Reponse Systems (clickers,) Podcasting, Web 2.0 tools for any classroom, Adobe InDesign, Photostory, Movie Maker, iTunes U, Google Earth, KidPix, YouTube / TeacherTube / SchoolTube
What is Expected
There is a requirement to integrate the tool or topic into the classroom
Your Principal, the teacher of the session, the Department Chair, Technology Director or Academic Dean will observe and sign off that the classroom use occurred
Attendees must do an evaluation of the class
Taking 2 classes in a school year and integrating in the classroom will earn 1 PLU credit
